The Rule of 115 is a rough calculation of how quickly an investment will triple, 3x. The calculation is done by simply dividing 115 by the average rate of return (ARR).

For example if the the FTSE 500 has an average return of = 8%

Then the calculation will go as follows:

115/8

= 14.4 Years

This is the value for the Rule of 115.
