Introduction

According to the Global Talent 2021 survey, conducted by Oxford Economies, the most requested skills in the next decade will be digital. Especially the ability to telecommute. This is caused by the fact that the Hybrid Model of work is no more an obligation caused by Covid-19. In fact, it’s evolving into the new normal for every business.

The Hybrid Model is a location-flexible arrangement, allowing employees to combine onsite and offsite work. Many large corporations around the world have announced that they will keep using this structure of work, post-pandemic. The hybrid model will remain in the new normal and will present a challenge to manage and integrate teams effectively. However, this is a great alternative to promote work autonomy. Employees will have more flexibility to get work done when they’re most productive.

Hybrid Model Statistics

Indeed, the transition to hybrid working can present challenges for companies. However, James King, founder of VC firm Fig, believes that startups will be quick learners. They will be able to develop the skills needed to effectively manage the work culture of hybrid teams. In fact, according to Qatalog, 73% of employees want flexible remote work options. Consequently, 66% of leaders say their company is considering redesigning office space for hybrid work. Also, 30% employees said they were more productive and engaged working from home. Therefore, 42% of leaders believe hybrid working boosts employee wellbeing. In addition, research done by Statista last year, showed how 73 % of employees from a global survey, want flexible remote work options.

Clearly, employees see value in hybrid work as, in the longer term, hybrid working could result in their well-being improvement. It reduces commuting time and  provides employees with more autonomy.

8 ways to integrate a successful hybrid work system.

Firstly, follow a strategy on hybrid working and support guidance. For instance, develop a communication plan to share ideas and solutions for future hybrid working.

Establish a hybrid workplace policy. Designate specific teams to work in-house while others work remotely.

Moreover, try to gather some feedback from employees. For example, feedback meetings.  It facilitates alignment with their personal needs and preferences. Also, it provides an opportunity for workers to ask questions and raise concerns.
